How We Teach

Private Lessons
For 55 minutes, Matt, your professional instructor, focuses on you.
Incorporating the basic elements that get you dancing quickly and in any style
you choose. You pick from any of the 20 types of dance we teach. Private lessons are the
fastest way to learn. To get started, call Matt at 402-208-0325 and he will find a time
that fits yourschedule.

Group Classes
The most economic way to learn to dance. Every Sunday at 2:30pm there will
be a group lesson, going over the different moves and rhythms of that weeks dance.
Group classes consist of 6 -30 people. Guys and girls are separated as we demonstrate the
move for both sides, then have the students
practice partnering with one another. Once everyone feels
comfortable with the move, we try it with music and then switch partners. Group classes are a great

way receive a lot of repetition.

Social Dances
What's the point in learning to dance if you don't go out and do it? So that's why every
Friday, Dance Omaha offers a chance for our students to dance with the community
at Just Dance Studio, as well as The Flower Shop on Monday's. Both Practice Party's
start with a group class at 7:30,
followed by open dancing featuring a variety of music
to practice many different kinds of dancing. You will have ample opportunities
to practice the skills you've just learned with many different partners, while your
instructor is just steps away in case any questions arises; offering suggestions,
and demonstrating through social dancing with various partners.
The Monday and Friday Dance Parties are  open to all:
first timers, old timers; even children.

Never danced before?
No worries, call us to schedule a one-hour private lesson.

Do I need a partner to start ?
No! In fact, you will learn much faster one-on-one with Matt, your professional  instructor or
for you single guys out there,
one of our lovely female associate instructors would be happy to partner with you
as Matt guides you in becoming a competent dancer.

What kind of shoes should I wear?
Make sure you bring dress shoes. Dance shoes are recommended but not required.
For your first lesson wear any  kind of shoe with a leather or suede sole that has support around the
ankle. Try not to wear sandals, tennis shoes or open backed shoes.

I am getting Married, how soon should I schedule my first dance lesson?
The sooner the better.  It is recommended that wedding couples schedule their first dance
lesson two months before their wedding date.  If this is not possible, do not worry.
Many wonderful dances have been prepared in shorter amounts of time.  Call Matt
and he  will assist you by creating a plan that will have you and your bride dancing
your first dance in style and grace right on time for your special day.
Matt's choreography and coaching will help you to feel comfortable during
this all-important moment, provide beautiful photo opportunities,
and allow you to thoroughly enjoy your first dance
as husband and wife.
